Aloha BrewTube:

In this epiosode of DJs BrewTube, I seek to feed the need for more stout and review Coopers Brewing, Co., Coopers Best Extra Stoutt.  Way back when in one of our Epic Beer Night Bottle Shares during St. Patrick's Day, Johnny and I had as our crescendo beer Guinness Foreign Export Stout.  Basically, Coopers Best Extra Stout is the same beer in style from an Australian brewer instead.  We really enjoyed the Guinness, so lets see if this beer delivers this year.  Enjoy the show!  Written review follows:

Coopers Best Extra Stout WRITTEN REVIEW:

A:Coopers Best Extra Stout pours really dark brown with an off-white 1.5 - 2 finger creamy head.  No alcohol legs and some decent glass lacing.

S: Aromas of black coffee, dark chocolate, some dark fruit, vanilla and a slight nuttiness.  No alcohol mell was detected.

T: Follows the nose with rich coffee upfront, in the middle and at the end.  Some vanilla and dark chocolate in the middle with a faint nutty like finish.

M: Full mediumbody.  On the dry / sweeter side. Super easy to drink more then one of this beer.

O: Coopers Best Extra Stout nice export style stout. Really rich coffee flavor is dominant and the other flavors as expected in this style.  This is a quality beer that is true to the style and I would buy and drink again.

1 Strawberry (garnish)
5 oz of Blond Ale or Lager

PREP. = Muddle strawberry, mint & agave nectar until the strawberry is completely pulverized.  Add lemon juice, rum and ice and shake vigorously for 5-10 counts.  Add beer, shake gently, strain over ice into glass of choice.  Garnish with mint and strawberry.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I will review Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown Double IPA.  This particular beer is one that I acquire from a buddy of mine who live a stone's throw fron the Karbach.  Rodeo Clown DIPA is described by the breweryOur Double IPA is much the same. At 9.5% ABV, Rodeo Clown Double IPA coats the tongue in bitterness and packs a punch that will knock a bull on its ass . Intense and maybe a little insane drink carefully, but drink often.  This all sounds really tasty, so lets see what flavors this beer style with a twist actually delivers.  Enjoy the show!  Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown Double IPA Written review follows:

Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown DIPA WRITTEN REVIEW:

A -- Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown Double IPA pours a hazy dark amber-red color topped by a 2 finger head of creamy foam that eventually setts into a thick collar. Decent glass lacing and alcohol legs abound.

S -- Citrus hops, pine and dank earthiness combined with grapefruit zest and a bit of tropical fruit. Caramel sweet malt rounds out the nose.

T -- Taste is a bit more malt-heavy up front withl a big, lingering punch of hop bitterness in the back end. Tropical fruits integrate with caramel, tangerine and herbal / grassy hop flavors, but there's enough zest to balance the sweetness. The ABV wasn't listed on the can, but I assumed this was a bigger East Coast DIPA (and was proved right, but the listed 9.5%).

M -- Medium-full body, with a coating mouth feel to it. Mild carbonation, and a dry finish, with lingering hop oils. Very well hidden alcohol with just a warming effect in the chest to let you know it is there.

O --Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown Double IPA is a really well made DIPA that gives a double Barrel punch of flavor from malt and hops.  Over all it is very enjoyable and I would keep a 4 pack of this in the fridge if it we more available.  Glad I know where to get some more.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I will review Maine Beer Company Lunch IPA.  This particular beer is one that my boys gave me money to buy as a Father's Day Gift.  Lunch is described by the brewery as an "East Coast version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance."  This all sounds really tasty, so lets see what flavors this beer style with a twist actually delivers.  Enjoy the show!  Maine Beer Company Lunch IPA Written review follows:

Maine Beer Company Lunch IPA WRITTEN REVIEW:

A: Maine Beer Company Lunch IPA pours a hazy, deep, bright golden color with 2 finger head of super-tight khaki off-white bubbles that dissipates slowly.  Glass lacing is decent and alcohol legs abound.

S: Big pine, dank moss, citrus and tropical fruits (mango and pineapple) rounded of with some sweet biscuit like malt.  Th aroma reminds me in many ways of Pliny The Elder.

T: Follows the nose with big pine, dank moss, citrus and tropical fruits (mango and pineapple) rounded of with some sweet biscuit like malt.  Like the aroma the taste reminds me in many ways of Pliny The Elder.

M: The mouth-feel is medium-full and the carbonation is spot on.  Maine Beer Co. Lunch IPA is super easy to drink and almost goes down a little too easy.

O: Maine Beer Co. Lunch IPA is is one of the best single IPAs that I have drank.  It has enough bitterness to satisfy true hop-heads and there is enough malt balance in the brew to not destroy your palate and allow it to pair well with food.  I had this this beer with BBQ and it was the perfect match.  Though well hidden, there were some hints of the alcohol in the mouth-feel and as the beer warmed. Maine Beer Co. Lunch IPA is a very enjoyable brew with well constructed flavors and aromas.  I would drink this beer again and recommend it if you are a hop-head.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I will review a beer that my buddy Brad (AKA Pooka NC) of WIld Boys Brewery sent to me in a beer trade.  You may recall that in this trade I received a ton of top notch brews.  So next up in the review docket is Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA.  Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA is the first  first high gravity beer that may have you Seeing Double. The hops are balanced with just enough body to craft a highly drinkable brew. Foot hills says to expect a full body and a hint of citrus from the seven varieties of hops added to the brew that clocks in at 9.5% ABV and 126 IBUs.  This all sounds really tasty, so lets see what flavors this beer style with a twist actually delivers.  Enjoy the show!  Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA Written review follows:

Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA WRITTEN REVIEW:

A: Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA pours a hazy, deep, bright golden orange in color with a two finger off-white head of super tight bubbles that slowly dissipates to a very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed and alcohol legs abound.

S: Strong aromas of dank pine, citrus, grapefruit and orange rounded off by sweek caramel and malt aromas.

T: Upfront there is a moderate amount of caramel malt sweetness with big flavors of citrus/grapefruit/orange and pine hops. Moderate amounts of lingering piney bitterness.  The alcohol in this beer is also hidden very well.

M: Medium full bodied with moderate, smooth carbonation. Slightly creamy wtih a moderately dry finish.

O: Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA is almost too big of a DIPA to really be easily drank.  However, there is enough balance in the brew to allow this beer to either a sipper or one that pairs well with food.  I had this this beer with BBQ and it was the perfect match.  Though well hidden, there were some hints of the alcohol in the mouthfeel and just in the taste as the beer warmed. Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA is a very enjoyable brew with well constructed flavors and aromas.  I would drink this beer again and recommend it if you are a hophead.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube I am joined by Johnny and Paul from PABrewNews to review yet another Appalachian Brewing Co. beer.  What big Appalachian Brewing Co. beer you ask?  Why, none other then Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale.  Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale is a seasonal release from Appalachian Brewing Co. that they produce just before Halloween.  Thus, the spooky 666 name.  It is also their most sought ater brew.

Batch No. 666 is a combination of a Porter and a Scottish ale and is produced with 1666 lbs of malt along with 3 -- 6 lb. hop additions. It is dark bronze in color with a clean finish Appalachian Brewing Company claims that this one can sneak up on you and take you to the dark side.  Considering that nearly all the other beer we had fro Appalachian Brewing Co. sucked, let's see if it measures up.  My written review and report card for Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale follows:

Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale WRITTEN REVIEW:

A - Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale pours a very dark brown, may as well be black, color with just a smidge of light creeping through. It produces an inch of tan head and leaves some lacing behind.

S - Mainly darker roasted and crystal malts with some faint dark frits and chocolate / coffee intermingled. There also slight traces of spices, but too faint to make out.

M - Medium in body with moderate carbonation and a creamy feel.  Quite easy to drink.

T - Dark roasted malts come first and quickly interweave with sweet caramel followed by some coffee and dark chocolate. The favor is rounded out with some dark fruits and a lingering roasted bitterness.

O - Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale is by far the best offering I've seen come out of Appalachian.  I don't know if I would seek this one out,but it would be worth drinking again.  Especially since 99% of their other beers are much above drain pour level.

Serving type: 22 oz Bottle
