Aloha BrewTube:

In this epiosode of DJs BrewTube, I seek to feed the need for more stout and review Coopers Brewing, Co., Coopers Best Extra Stoutt.  Way back when in one of our Epic Beer Night Bottle Shares during St. Patrick's Day, Johnny and I had as our crescendo beer Guinness Foreign Export Stout.  Basically, Coopers Best Extra Stout is the same beer in style from an Australian brewer instead.  We really enjoyed the Guinness, so lets see if this beer delivers this year.  Enjoy the show!  Written review follows:

Coopers Best Extra Stout WRITTEN REVIEW:

A:Coopers Best Extra Stout pours really dark brown with an off-white 1.5 - 2 finger creamy head.  No alcohol legs and some decent glass lacing.

S: Aromas of black coffee, dark chocolate, some dark fruit, vanilla and a slight nuttiness.  No alcohol mell was detected.

T: Follows the nose with rich coffee upfront, in the middle and at the end.  Some vanilla and dark chocolate in the middle with a faint nutty like finish.

M: Full mediumbody.  On the dry / sweeter side. Super easy to drink more then one of this beer.

O: Coopers Best Extra Stout nice export style stout. Really rich coffee flavor is dominant and the other flavors as expected in this style.  This is a quality beer that is true to the style and I would buy and drink again.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I will review Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown Double IPA.  This particular beer is one that I acquire from a buddy of mine who live a stone's throw fron the Karbach.  Rodeo Clown DIPA is described by the breweryOur Double IPA is much the same. At 9.5% ABV, Rodeo Clown Double IPA coats the tongue in bitterness and packs a punch that will knock a bull on its ass . Intense and maybe a little insane drink carefully, but drink often.  This all sounds really tasty, so lets see what flavors this beer style with a twist actually delivers.  Enjoy the show!  Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown Double IPA Written review follows:

Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown DIPA WRITTEN REVIEW:

A -- Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown Double IPA pours a hazy dark amber-red color topped by a 2 finger head of creamy foam that eventually setts into a thick collar. Decent glass lacing and alcohol legs abound.

S -- Citrus hops, pine and dank earthiness combined with grapefruit zest and a bit of tropical fruit. Caramel sweet malt rounds out the nose.

T -- Taste is a bit more malt-heavy up front withl a big, lingering punch of hop bitterness in the back end. Tropical fruits integrate with caramel, tangerine and herbal / grassy hop flavors, but there's enough zest to balance the sweetness. The ABV wasn't listed on the can, but I assumed this was a bigger East Coast DIPA (and was proved right, but the listed 9.5%).

M -- Medium-full body, with a coating mouth feel to it. Mild carbonation, and a dry finish, with lingering hop oils. Very well hidden alcohol with just a warming effect in the chest to let you know it is there.

O --Karbach Brewing Co. Rodeo Clown Double IPA is a really well made DIPA that gives a double Barrel punch of flavor from malt and hops.  Over all it is very enjoyable and I would keep a 4 pack of this in the fridge if it we more available.  Glad I know where to get some more.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I will review Maine Beer Company Lunch IPA.  This particular beer is one that my boys gave me money to buy as a Father's Day Gift.  Lunch is described by the brewery as an "East Coast version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance."  This all sounds really tasty, so lets see what flavors this beer style with a twist actually delivers.  Enjoy the show!  Maine Beer Company Lunch IPA Written review follows:

Maine Beer Company Lunch IPA WRITTEN REVIEW:

A: Maine Beer Company Lunch IPA pours a hazy, deep, bright golden color with 2 finger head of super-tight khaki off-white bubbles that dissipates slowly.  Glass lacing is decent and alcohol legs abound.

S: Big pine, dank moss, citrus and tropical fruits (mango and pineapple) rounded of with some sweet biscuit like malt.  Th aroma reminds me in many ways of Pliny The Elder.

T: Follows the nose with big pine, dank moss, citrus and tropical fruits (mango and pineapple) rounded of with some sweet biscuit like malt.  Like the aroma the taste reminds me in many ways of Pliny The Elder.

M: The mouth-feel is medium-full and the carbonation is spot on.  Maine Beer Co. Lunch IPA is super easy to drink and almost goes down a little too easy.

O: Maine Beer Co. Lunch IPA is is one of the best single IPAs that I have drank.  It has enough bitterness to satisfy true hop-heads and there is enough malt balance in the brew to not destroy your palate and allow it to pair well with food.  I had this this beer with BBQ and it was the perfect match.  Though well hidden, there were some hints of the alcohol in the mouth-feel and as the beer warmed. Maine Beer Co. Lunch IPA is a very enjoyable brew with well constructed flavors and aromas.  I would drink this beer again and recommend it if you are a hop-head.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I will review a beer that my buddy Brad (AKA Pooka NC) of WIld Boys Brewery sent to me in a beer trade.  You may recall that in this trade I received a ton of top notch brews.  So next up in the review docket is Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA.  Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA is the first  first high gravity beer that may have you Seeing Double. The hops are balanced with just enough body to craft a highly drinkable brew. Foot hills says to expect a full body and a hint of citrus from the seven varieties of hops added to the brew that clocks in at 9.5% ABV and 126 IBUs.  This all sounds really tasty, so lets see what flavors this beer style with a twist actually delivers.  Enjoy the show!  Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA Written review follows:

Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA WRITTEN REVIEW:

A: Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA pours a hazy, deep, bright golden orange in color with a two finger off-white head of super tight bubbles that slowly dissipates to a very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed and alcohol legs abound.

S: Strong aromas of dank pine, citrus, grapefruit and orange rounded off by sweek caramel and malt aromas.

T: Upfront there is a moderate amount of caramel malt sweetness with big flavors of citrus/grapefruit/orange and pine hops. Moderate amounts of lingering piney bitterness.  The alcohol in this beer is also hidden very well.

M: Medium full bodied with moderate, smooth carbonation. Slightly creamy wtih a moderately dry finish.

O: Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA is almost too big of a DIPA to really be easily drank.  However, there is enough balance in the brew to allow this beer to either a sipper or one that pairs well with food.  I had this this beer with BBQ and it was the perfect match.  Though well hidden, there were some hints of the alcohol in the mouthfeel and just in the taste as the beer warmed. Foothills Brewing Company Seeing Double IPA is a very enjoyable brew with well constructed flavors and aromas.  I would drink this beer again and recommend it if you are a hophead.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube I am joined by Johnny and Paul from PABrewNews to review yet another Appalachian Brewing Co. beer.  What big Appalachian Brewing Co. beer you ask?  Why, none other then Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale.  Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale is a seasonal release from Appalachian Brewing Co. that they produce just before Halloween.  Thus, the spooky 666 name.  It is also their most sought ater brew.

Batch No. 666 is a combination of a Porter and a Scottish ale and is produced with 1666 lbs of malt along with 3 -- 6 lb. hop additions. It is dark bronze in color with a clean finish Appalachian Brewing Company claims that this one can sneak up on you and take you to the dark side.  Considering that nearly all the other beer we had fro Appalachian Brewing Co. sucked, let's see if it measures up.  My written review and report card for Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale follows:

Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale WRITTEN REVIEW:

A - Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale pours a very dark brown, may as well be black, color with just a smidge of light creeping through. It produces an inch of tan head and leaves some lacing behind.

S - Mainly darker roasted and crystal malts with some faint dark frits and chocolate / coffee intermingled. There also slight traces of spices, but too faint to make out.

M - Medium in body with moderate carbonation and a creamy feel.  Quite easy to drink.

T - Dark roasted malts come first and quickly interweave with sweet caramel followed by some coffee and dark chocolate. The favor is rounded out with some dark fruits and a lingering roasted bitterness.

O - Appalachian Brewing Co. Batch No. 666 Ale is by far the best offering I've seen come out of Appalachian.  I don't know if I would seek this one out,but it would be worth drinking again.  Especially since 99% of their other beers are much above drain pour level.

Serving type: 22 oz Bottle

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, Batch 19 Pre-Prohibition Style Lager, another "craft" offering from Coors.   Batch 19 is derived from a recipe found in an old logbook discovered in brewery archives dating back before 1919, when Prohibition banned beer throughout the country. Prohibition was enforced in Colorado in 1916. The pre-Prohibition style lager delivers a bold, hoppy flavor that is surprisingly well balanced. This is supposed to be the perfect beer for easy flavorful drinking.   This all sounds really tasty, so lets see what flavors this beer style with a twist actually delivers.  Enjoy the show!  Batch 19 Pre-Prohibition Style Lager review follows:

Batch 19 Pre-Prohibition Style Lager WRITTEN REVIEW:

A: Batch 19 Pre-Prohibition Style Lager pours a slightly hazy nice medium golden brown, with carbonation visible.  2-3 fingers of foamy head  sticks around for a while, and never disappeares completely.  No alcohol legs are apparent.

S: Caramel, bready malt, corn sweetness and some mild floral hops, but not a lot here.  Smells a lot better then the typical American Adjunct Lager.  No wet cardboard aroma.

T: A nice malty, bread taste, complimented by a very nice hint of slight hoppy bitterness, and finishing with a moderate sweetness.

M: Mouthfeel also very good. Medium-bodied, slightly sticky, with just the right amount of carbonation.  Very drinkable.

O: Batch 19 Pre-Prohibition Style Lager is a quite pleasant surprise from the land of crap beer.  Both the aroma, taste and mouth feel of Batch 19 Pre-Prohibition Style Lager are well done.  This be is no ground breaker or of earth shattering quality, but it is a wll made brew that I would drink again.  Give Batch 19 Pre-Prohibition Style Lager a go, its not half bad.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode I am going back to my German roots to review my favorite post workout / hot weather style, Hefeweizen.  To fill this need I have chosen the big boy version of the wheat beer family, Weihenstephaner Vitus Weizenbock.   As many of you may know I am a Weisse Bier fan and I found this on very enjoyable.  When I drink Weisse Bier variants, I am always taken back to time spent in a Munich beer garden imbibing top notch beer and experiencing Gemütlichkeit or in English that super chill feeling.  Anyway, enjoy the video, my review and report card follows:

Weihenstephaner Vitus Weizenbock REVIEW:

A = Weihenstephaner Vitus Weizenbock pours a cloudy golden orange color with a quickly forming 3 - 4 finger dense white head.  Excellent glass lacing and really good head retention.

S = The nose of Weihenstephaner Vitus Weizenbock is of big spicy yeast, banana and a bit of sweet grains, banana and hops join together to make a really pleasant nose.

T=  Yeast, malt, fruity spiciness are all in excellent balance.  Sweet malt lingers in the after taste and compared to others I've had of this style Weihenstephaner Vitus Weizenbock is on the sweeter side of the spectrum but has enough spice in the flavor to bring it into perfect balance.  No alcohol in detectable.

M = Smooth, crisp, clean and very easy to drink (FAST).  Perfect carbonation with a dry with a dry sweet, spicy finish.

O = Weihenstephaner Vitus Weizenbock is yet another prototypical, really tasty beer that clearly illustrates that Weihenstephaner is the master of German Wheat beers.  This is my foavorite beer that they produce and I go back to it again and again.  Try this beer and get ready for Gemütlichkeit.  PROST!!!!

Three Floyds Jinx Proof Lager WRITTEN REVIEW:

A - Three Floyds Jinx Proof pours a clear deep copper color with a two to two and a half finger off white colored head of super tight bubbles.  Head retention is decent and there are no apparent alcohol legs.

S - Caramel malts, lemon, molasses, floral hops and caramel.

T - Follows the nose very closely.  Caramel malts, lemon, molasses, floral hops and caramel with a dry clean finish.

M - Medium - Thin bodied, refreshing with moderate carbonation.  Ver easy to drink.

O - This style of beer is no earth shaker.  However, over all this was a very pleasant, easy to drink ber that was well made.  I don't think I would seek out Three Floyds Jinx Proof again but would defiantly drink it if offered the chance.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I review a local Imperial Stout, Flying Dog Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout.  Three things that I really like are beer, coffee and chocolate.  Becauce of my propensity toward these flavored stouts are one of the styles that I gravitate toward pretty much year-round.  Kujo is the savage spawn of two brewing worlds -- coffee and beer -- colliding. But in that collision, there's a balance between rich and roasted stout characteristics and the deep, dark coffee notes. The result is an 8.9% ABV brew made with locally-roasted coffee from Black Dog Coffee out of Summit Point, West Virginia.  Lets see what flavors this well know classic beer with a twist delivers.  Enjoy the show!

Flying Dog Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout (2012) Written review follows:

Flying Dog Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout (2012) WRITTEN REVIEW:

A: Flying Dog Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout (2012) pours duper dark, opaque black with a 2 finger dark brown head of tight bubbles. Looks great in the glass, like a dark roast coffee with plenty of alcohol legs and decent lacing.

S: A lot of dark roasted coffee, caramel malt, dark & milk chocolate and som dark fruits. No alcohol aroma was detected

T: Slightly sweet up front, alcohol is well hidden in the finish. There's a nice roasted malt flavor along with the coffee notes in the background, hops are not pronounced.  Coffee and chocolate flavors linger in the finish.  In this there is balance.

M: Full bodied with creamy, lower carbonation, both a great for the style. Coats your mouth with each sip.

O: Flying Dog Brewery Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout ((2012 Vintage)) has a  nice balanced malt profile with coffee flavors that add to the experience rather than overwhelm it. Not too sweet, which I find to be an issue with some imperial stouts, well balanced overall with a surprising vanilla flavor in the background.  I recommend and will drink this beer again.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I will review a beer that my buddy Minnesota Matt sent to me in a beer trade.  You may recall that in this trade I received mainly Surly Beer.  So next up in the review docket is Surly Brewing Co. Coffee Bender Brown Ale.  Surly Coffee Bender is a coffee flavored oatmeal brown ale that defies traditional categories. Coffee Bender refreshes like an iced-coffee, is aromatic as a bag of whole beans as satisfies like your favorite beer. The Surly brew team has developed a cold extraction process that results in intense coffee aromatics and flavor bringing together two favorite beverages.   This all sounds really tasty, so lets see what flavors this beer style with a twist actually delivers.  Enjoy the show!

Surly Brewing Co. Coffee Bender Brown Ale Written review follows:

Surly Brewing Co. Coffee Bender Brown Ale WRITTEN REVIEW:

A- Surly Brewing Co. Coffee Bender Brown Ale pours a dark chestnut brown with a few ruby highlights with a 1.5 to 2 finger light-tan head of tight bubbles.  The head possesses great retention, leaving solid lacing and leaved no alcohol legs.

S- The nose is in you face coffee sweet and slightly nutty malt, grainy oats, a bit of cocoa, caramel and coffee to accompanied by mild and hop and coffee roast bitterness.

T- Following the nose, the taste is marked by big coffee sweet malty notes, bittersweet chocolate, caramel and some herbal earthy notes.  The oats add a nice grainy flavor coupled with herbal hop and malt roast bitterness.  This gives Coffee Bender a somewhat-dry finish with a lingering coffee flavor.  No alcohol taste is detectable.  This beer's flavor is particularly impressive when you consider that it is a session strength beer clocking in at only, 5.5% ABV.

M- Coffee Bender has a medium body and spot on carbonation that is coupled with a super silky mouth-feel from the oats.

O-  Surly Brewing Co. Coffee Bender Brown Ale is not your typical American Brown Ale.  Almost drinks like a porter, nice chocolate, coffee and caramel flavors with some good herbal hop and roast bitterness notes to create balance.  This beer's flavor is particularly impressive when you consider that it is a session strength beer clocking in at only, 5.5% ABV.  IMO, the best non-flavored American Brown Ale I have had to date.  In a nutshell, buy this beer in multiples.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube I review a beer in response to a requst from Corwin Russel (Channel Link Below).  If you have watched Corwin's channel then you know he is not a beer reviewer.  Instead Corwin is a singer who puts out spot on covers and some really cool original music too.  It is a cool thing for me to think that non beer geeks watch my stuff and even subscribe to my channel.  So, when he requested a beer for review you know I am on it.

What to say about  Budweiser Black Crown?  Well Budweiser black Crown is basically an amped up version of Budweiser that came out of a "competition" between Brewmasters from Budweiser.  The winning recipe that became Black Crown Became was created by LA Brewmaster Bryan Sullivan.  Beside having a much richer malt bill then regular Budweiser, Black Crown also uses a decedent of the original Budweiser yeast strain.  Long story short, Anyway, enough prose, lets see if Black Crown will reign or if it will fall.  Enjoy the video.  My written review and report card follow:

Budweiser Black Crown Premium Lager WRITTEN REVIEW:

A - Budweiser Black Crown Premium Lager pours anice looking full amber color. It has some golden highlights and deeper caramel hughes when swirled. The two finger head that forms dissipates fairly quickly and leaves a moderate amount of lacing.  Only minimal alcohol legs are apparent.

S - Black Crown has a hop devoid, caramel sweet, almost fruity aroma. It smells a little like grain. The best description of the aroma is bigger Budweiser.

T - Following the nose, Black Crown has a hop devoid, caramel sweet, almost fruity taste. The best description of the aroma is bigger Budweiser. This said, it does have a decent dry, clean finish.

M - Moderate with a good amount of carbonation.  Just shy of being watery.

O - Budweiser Black Crown Premium Lager is what it is.  It's better than Bud and also better then Bud Platinum. However, I cannot recommend the beer and do not plan on having this again unless it's free.  It's just a MEH beer.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube I review yet another big ass DIPA.  What big ass DIPA you ask?  Why, none other then the new beer (Released Spring 2013) Surly Brewing Co. Overrated West Coast Style IPA. Surly Brewing Co. Overrated West Coast Style IPA is a beer that that was brewed in "honor" of Surly haters and West Coast IPAs.  The name Overrated is an homage to to all those who say that Surly only produces overly hoppy and dark beers and that their brew is well, overrated.

In the words of Surly:

It's been said: "It's easier to brew an extremely hoppy beer than an extremely balanced beer." And you know us, we are always looking for the easy way out, so we jumped on the West Coast IPA Bandwagon and brewed this dry and hoppy ale. "Surly's a little bit of a one-trick pony, they just brew gimmick beers," and maybe we are OVERRATED, but at the end of the day, it's just a beer. If you like it, great, so do we. If you only liked us when we were small, then leave this one on the shelf. Let one of the fanboys grab it.

Anyway, enough prose, enjoy the video.  My written review and report card follows:

Surly Brewing Co. Overrated West Coast Style IPA WRITTEN REVIEW:

A - Surly Brewing Co. Overrated West Coast Style IPA pours a clear amber body. Two fingers of white foam with sticky lacing and lasting retention. Looks good for a filtered IPA.

S - Tropical fruit into huge pine. Very juicy and fresh with a dash of bready malts. Even at a month old its still smelling damn good.

T - Pine, grapefruit, and crackery malts. Dry yet juicy. Not as great as the nose and actually rather boring. Seems to just be missing something. Slick and creamy mouth feel.

O - Surly Brewing Co. Overrated West Coast Style IPA is a damn good DIPA even with a few weeks on it. Very lacking compared to Surly's other hoppy brews. Dig the tongue in cheek idea behind it too.

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I review another innovative beer from Stone.  What innovative ber you ask?  Why none other then Stone / Aleman / Two Brother DAYMAN COFFEE IPA.  Two things that I really like really like in life are hoppy beer beer, coffee.  Because of my propensity toward these simple pleasures, the ide of a coffee IPA is quite intriguing.   It is important to not that this beer was the product of the Iron Brew Home Brew competition in Chicago.    The winning recipe from AleMan was chosen and the reward was that Stone decided to commercially produce the beer.  Not a bid prize.  Lets see what happens when the bold flavors of coffee and hoppy IPA are blended and if this beer with a twist delivers.  Enjoy the show!

Stone / Aleman / Two Brother DAYMAN COFFEE IPAt Written review follows:

Stone / Aleman / Two Brother DAYMAN COFFEE IPA WRITTEN REVIEW:

A - Stone / Aleman / Two Brother DAYMAN COFFEE IPA pours a dark amber, clear. Nice lacing and a white head that dissipates pretty quickly.

S - Cold coffee grounds, but in a good way. These aren't day old Folger's grounds for sure. A faint sweetness, but nothing really in the way of normal IPA scents. Its sort of like smlling your breakfast coffee and orange juice at the same time.

T - Coffee upfront followed by delicious bright citrus hops. The bitterness of the hops and rich coffee roast flavor and bitterness play quite well off each other.   After the coffee you get a good bit of tropical fruits from the hops as well with the slight bit of dankness. This is pretty tasty brew that make you think while you drink and try to dissect the flavors..

M - Mediu thick body with nice, smooth, spot on carbonation. Very easy to drink and the alcohol is really well hidden.

O - I really like the blend flavor blend and innovation of Stone / Aleman / Two Brother DAYMAN COFFEE IPA.   This said, wish I could have it on tap to see how the hops are truly supposed to be represented.  If you can find a bottle give it a try.  It is a truly unique brew.

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I will review Lagunitas Brewing Co. Wilco Tango Foxtrot (W.T.F.) Imperial Brown Ale.  Lagunitas Brewing Co. Wilco Tango Foxtrot (W.T.F.) Imperial Brown Ale that defies traditional categories. WTF begins crisp and lightly hoppy, complemented by big robust malts. These malts usher in cascades of cocoa, coffee, caramel and hints of vanilla. An easy-drinking ale with many layers of flavor and a sneaky, well hidded alcohol kick.  This all sounds really tasty, so lets see what flavors this beer style with a twist actually delivers.  Enjoy the show!

Lagunitas Brewing Co. Wilco Tango Foxtrot (W.T.F.) Imperial Brown Ale Written review follows:

Lagunitas Brewing Co. Wilco Tango Foxtrot (W.T.F.) Imperial Brown Ale WRITTEN REVIEW:

A- Lagunitas Brewing Co. Wilco Tango Foxtrot (W.T.F.) Imperial Brown Ale pours a medium dark brown color with a 1.5 - 2.0 finger head of tight off-white bubbles that morphs into a thin, lasting ring around the glass. Drippy non-resilient lacing and decent alcohol legs.

S- Citrus fruity hop punch up front mixed with dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, coffee and some toasty malt rounding out the atoma.  No alcohol aroma is detected.

T- Smooth combo of mildly bitter hops and some toasted malt. Slight caramel aftertaste. Alcohol is very well hidden. Mildly hop forward but the malt brings sweetness that balances everything well.

M- Spot on, moderate carbonation coupled with a medium body.  Very easy to drink, goes down smooth.  No alcohol burn at all.

O- Lagunitas Brewing Co. Wilco Tango Foxtrot (W.T.F.) Imperial Brown Ale is a  highly drinkable imperial ale. A well-executed strong ale for sure and it doesn't skimp on the bitterness from hops and roast.  This reigns in the malt sweetness and brings balance.  All-in-all, a really tasty brew that I will drink again.

Hola BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube I review another Mexican Craft Beer, La Chingoneria Hazmela Rusa Mexican Imperial Stout.  Yes, there are craft breweries in Mexico, you just have to work a bit to seek them out beyond the ocean of Mexican Macro Lagers.  La Chingoneria Hazmela Rusa Mexican Imperial Stout is an Imperial Stout that that uses a base of a Russian Imperial Stout and adds a blend of chilis to transform this classic style into its Mexican form.  Lets dice into this one see how it stacks up against it counterparts in the USA.  Enjoy the show!!  My written review follows:

La Chingoneria Hazmela Rusa Mexican Imperial Stout WRITTEN REVIEW:

A: La Chingoneria Hazmela Rusa Mexican Imperial Stout pours black as pitch with no light penetrating the body.  After the pour, a one finger head of tight bubbles forms and dissipates to a thin ring fairly quickly.  Minimal glass lacing and some decent alcohol legs.

S: Up front these is a intense aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, toasted malts followed up by chilies.

T: The taste follows the nose  very aligned with coffee, dark chocolate, toasted malts followed up by chilies   The alcohol is very well hidden and the chili addition adds very little heat but a wealth of flavor.

M: Hazmela Ruse is just barely full bodied with mild carbonation and is fairly easy to drink for the style. Alcohol is only detectable as gentle warming in the chest as it goes down.

O:  La Chingoneria Hazmela Rusa Mexican Imperial Stout is probably the best chili beer I have ad to date.  The only one that I am pretty sure rivals it is Hunapu's Stout by Cigar City.  The only critique I have of this beer is that it could be amped up  in the sweetness department.  IMO, this would also make probably it a bit bigger stout and give enhance its flavors.  This said, it is the best Mexican Craft beer I have had to date and is an impressive offering from such a young brewery.  Try this beer if you can find it.

Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout Beer Review DJs BrewTube Beer Review

Aloha BrewTube:

In this episode of DJs BrewTube, I review another famous Russian Imperial Stout, Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout.  Three things that I really like are beer, coffee and chocolate.  Because of my propensity toward these flavor, stouts are one of the styles that I gravitate toward pretty much year-round.  It is important to not that the flavors in Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout are derived from literally hundreds of pounds of Ryan Brothers Coffee espresso beans per batch and the back bone Stone Imperial Russian Stout base recipe.  Lets see what flavors this well know classic beer with a twist delivers.  Enjoy the show!

Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout WRITTEN REVIEW:

A: Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout pours fully opaque pitch black with an off-white 1.5 - 2 finger dense creamy head that has plenty of staying power.  Plenty of alcohol and glass lacing.

S: In your face with rich dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, coffee fruitiness, vanilla and a slight nuttiness.  No alcohol was detected in the aroma.

T: Follows the nose with rich dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, coffee fruitiness, vanilla and a slight nuttiness.  The 11% ABV is very well hidden in this beer.

M: Medium full, easy to drink with spot on carbonation.  Goes down almost too smooth.

O: Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout (2013) is a very well brewed and flavorful version of a coffee flavored Russian Imperial Stout.  Stone did a great job with this one.  This said, because coffee flavor in beer fades over time this is one that should be consumed reasonable fresh to get the full coffee effect ast the brewer intends.  I actually enjoy this more than fresh regular Stone IRS.  In a nutshell, this is a beer that I recommend, will drink and purchase again and again.
